At Tasmania by Claudia, International Women’s Day isn’t just a date on the calendar—it’s a celebration of the heart and soul of our business. As a small, largely female-driven team, we know first-hand the power of women supporting women in a creative workplace.
“Each individual brings something unique to the TBC team, which makes for a highly collaborative and creative workplace. With our shared passion for Tasmania, and universal love of art and jewellery, it is our highly-skilled and deeply connected team that makes us different.” says Sam, Tasmania by Claudia’s Marketing Manager.
From design and craftsmanship to marketing and customer service, our departments don’t just co-exist; they inform and inspire each other. Founder and co-owner Freya says it best, “The women at Tasmania by Claudia are great mentors and advocates. This brings a unique perspective to problem-solving, design, and brainstorming and one where we feel supported to take risks and think outside the box. Thinking outside the box is often where the magic happens.”
It’s that “outside of the box” thinking that Master Jeweller Tracey brings in abundance. With decades of expertise and a flare for breathing new life into once forgotten jewellery, she is a wealth of knowledge. Not only is Tracey a talented jeweller, she also knows how to tickle the funny bone with her comedic prowess.
Our workshop team is entirely female, something uncommon in an industry once dominated mostly by men. Jeweller Kirra-Lea, is a highly respected jeweller and artist who is paving the way for other female jewellers. She is a dedicated educator, sharing her skills with jewellers Australia-wide. Constantly creating breathtaking works of art—Kirra-Lea is deeply passionate about Tasmanian gemstones, incorporating their unique beauty into her designs.
Talented, and creative women abound at Tasmania by Claudia. Workshop Assistant Lucy, is drawn to all things beautiful. An accomplished beauty therapist, painter and assistant at the bench, Lucy’s attention to detail ensures our pieces are finished to perfection. She is also strengthening her stringing skills, creating beautiful beaded gemstone necklaces exclusively for TBC.
Combine Tracey’s wealth of experience and artistry, with Kirra-Lea’s talent and Lucy’s eye for aesthetics and you have a dynamic, high-skilled and effective workshop.
Pair these skills with that of our gifted jewellery designer Fiona, and you have the perfect blend of quality, expertise and unique design. With over 20 years industry experience Fiona has designed for luxury jewellers such as Hardy Brothers and Cerrone, and is the talented designer behind our much loved Nothofagus Collection. Fiona understands the art of balancing colour, composition and luxury to designer jewellery that perfectly reflects our Tasmanian landscape.
A deep love of Tasmania is something we all share, and Tasmanian by Claudia founder Freya, is the creative visionary bringing it all together. Freya is the glue that holds the team together, bringing everything (and everyone) together resulting in the creation of an iconic Tasmanian brand that celebrates the beauty and unique story of our wild, rugged island home.
Bringing that story to life is our marketing manager Sam. Through the lens of her camera and the creation of our marketing strategy Sam ties everything together, ensuring the story of Tasmania by Claudia reaches into the hearts and minds of those who share our love for quality jewellery inspired by nature. “There’s something about our largely female team that inspires empathy, friendship, and a deep understanding of what it means to be a working woman in the world.” says Sam.
This International Women’s Day, we celebrate the power of collaboration, creativity, and the incredible women who make Tasmania by Claudia what it is today.
